Buyer's Guide

Your Budget
Pyro Shows will work with you to make sure you get the best fireworks display for your money.  Although we work with large scale fireworks customers, many of our performances include shows ranging in size from a National Anthem for the local Little League baseball team or fireworks for your county fair.

Planning in advance
Due to the many regulatory issues regarding fireworks displays, it is best to start planning your event no later than 6 weeks before hand. However, if your event comes up on short notice, please give us a call…..we will do our best to make sure you get your fireworks !!!

Site Selection Information
Professional-grade fireworks require a safety radius from the launch site to your viewing audience or any occupied building.  This distance is determined by multiplying the shell diameter in inches by 70 feet.  Therefore a 6-inch shell requires a 420-foot safety radius. Knowing this distance will help you to determine the largest diameter shell that is available for your program.

Other issues to consider are any overhead obstructions like power lines and the distance to fuel storage facilities and railroad tracks.

Trees blocking your audience’s view are not usually a problem.  Even a 3-inch diameter shell, with a shell burst height at 300 feet will easily clear a mature tree of only 60 feet tall.  Your audience’s view will be blocked only if they are too close to the trees.

Powder Weight vs. Shell Count
Spherical volume = (4/3) x pi x radius3
That's way too complicated to remember, but all fireworks buyers should know that even a small increase in shell diameter can give an enormous increase to the shell’s explosive volume. Fireworks buyers need to be aware of this when comparing different fireworks proposals. Click through our photographs to take a look at the significantly greater powder weights for different diameter shells.

Shell Selection – Cakes vs. Shells
Most fireworks fans are familiar with the single-shot fireworks shell. But, many fireworks shows by Pyro Shows also include cake or low level fireworks that shoot multiple shots from a single launch position. These low level presentations can be added to give an extra special scene to any fireworks show.   They provide a special quality of presentation and have proven to be an affordable option for our customers.
